HYBRID

1. Hybrid is an imaginary creature, that contains body parts of more than one real species.

2. Pegasus: wings of bird & horse
    Liger: tiger & lion
Mermaid: upper human body & lower fish body
    Minotaur: human & bull
    Centaur: human & horse
    Dragon: serpent & reptile
Griffin: body of lion & head and wings of eagle
    Cerberus: three-headed dog
Chimera: dragon & lion & goat

3. I am going to create a hybrid, the result of tiger, eagle, and turtle. I would combine them together, because those are the animals that live everywhere; land, sky and sea.

4.
Analysis:

1. - used clone stamp tool to make three-headed tiger.
    - used magnetic lasso tool and quick selection tool to crop the parts of animals I desired.
    - used eraser to edit the edge of the hybrid so it does not look cropped.
    - used background that best fits the hybrid i created.
    - named the hybrid which I believe, best fits the hybrid.
    - used adjustment layer (brightness and contrast) to create the mood of the picture and also to make the hybrid and the background go together.
    - used smart brush tool (blue skies) to make the picture more brighter and appealing, and also to make the hybrid flow with the background.
    - added shadow to make the picture more realistic.

2. The successes were that the picture came out better than what I hoped, and also the hybrid I chose was a good one. furthermore, the picture was overall, smooth. Challenges were when I had to find the pictures of animals to create my own hybrid. also it was very difficult to make the hybrid look more natural.

Anti-Valentine or Valentine Assignment

Happy Valentine!~
My original picture

1)  My heart longs for you, my soul dies for you,
my eyes cry for you, my empty arms reach out for you.
                                                                      ~Unknown
I chose this quote, because it is a little depressing and also shows strong affection of love.

2) My colour scheme is light red and pink, because it creates a happy, joyful and relaxing mood. And also there is the mood of warmness. The light red and pink depicts the feeling of love. With this colour scheme, I am trying to portray not anti-valentine but joyful and warm valentine. On the other hand, the red colour on top and bottom left corner and also along the line of the rose and arrow represents a strong love and also represents the powerful love that a person feels towards another person.

3) The shape of my art piece is traditional valentine shape; heart. I chose this shape, because it symbolizes the love (obviously), and also it aids the mood of the whole picture. Furthermore, the arrow of cupid is hidden within the hand holding a rose and this represents the confession of love from a person holding the rose.

4)  a) Adjustment layers help create somewhat depressing, sad and sorrowful mood. On the other hand, it creates the strong affection of love.
     b) Filters I used give some rough, and broken texture, and I used this to show the breaking heart of a person.
     c) The fonts I used is Times New Roman, sized 12pt, Italic, and colour of white.
     d) The photograph that is my own in this picture is the chocolate strawberries on the right side. I used this to depict the sweet love.

FIRST ASSIGNMENT: ELEMENTS & PRINCIPLES

ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES

ELEMENT: SHAPE

PRINCIPLE: EMPHASIS

In this assignment, I will demonstrate one element and one principle using Adobe Photoshop Elements and analyze how I could improve my element and principle to make them more obvious. The element and principle I had to demonstrate was shape and emphasis.
When I created this two pictures, I brainstormed how I can make obvious example of each. For the Shape, I used different shape and also I show different shapes within the shapes. For the Emphasis, I have created cards, but only one with the shape of spades, to emphasis the card compare to other ones with no shapes. also I have emphasis the card with the spades using red colour, to differentiate between other cards with blue. Therefore I believe and thought through how I can improve my element and principle before I created them.
